Phase 2: The Rooting (6-12 Months)

Have you noticed your little one has become your permanent shadow?

Welcome to The Rooting Phase. Just as a tree digs deep into the soil to stand tall, your baby is digging deep into their attachment to you. It’s beautiful, it’s primal, and - if we’re being real - it’s a little exhausting.

The Achievement & The Struggle

This is the season of Unassisted Sitting and the Pincer Grasp. They are becoming "Floor Gourmets," finding every speck of dust you missed. But the struggle? The Peek-a-Boo Panic. Now that they understand Object Permanence, they know you exist when you leave the room - and they have opinions about it.

The Development Connection

This is a cognitive leap. They are learning that they are their own person, which makes "losing" you at bedtime feel like a major event. Separation anxiety isn't a setback; it's a sign of a brilliant brain at work.

The ALANUNU Sleep Guide

Bedtime now requires more than just a bath; it needs an Anchor. Because they are "Rooting," they need a "Goodbye Ritual" that feels like a physical bridge. A specific song or a rhythmic tuck-in tells them: “I am going, but I am still here.”

The Slow Living & Natural Nursery Environment

Ritual as an Anchor. In a world that moves too fast, these tiny, repetitive moments of connection are what keep us grounded.

As their skin becomes more active, crawling and exploring, breathability becomes everything. They are starting to regulate their own heat, but they still need help. Choosing high-quality, natural textures for their sleep space now creates a sensory "safety zone" that will serve them well as they approach the 18-month transition.
